Don’t Get Sucked In.
There are countless magazines, books, DVDs, TV shows, potions, lotions and powders around promoting quick-fix diets.
They will usually show an overweight person who now looks like a supermodel with a butt from heaven or a chiseled athlete with a six pack.They got this way in six weeks by just taking the product or using some contraption that is now in your garage as a clothes hanger.
Sorry, but it’s time for a dose of reality.
It’s impossible to stay on these diets for life. They usually deplete the body of a vitamin or mineral – usually a lot of both. Yes, short term, you do lose weight, but it’s the wrong kind. Usually it’s fluids not body fat.
Then of course, when you return to eating normally the fat comes back - and more.

This Years Most Popular Xmas Present for Kids

Yes, you may have guessed it, the latest present which involves a screen.
Parents around the world are going to great lengths to buy this
must have present. Parents in some cases spend all day traveling from one end of town to the other, just to get this screen.
Most get very upset and frustrated when they come up emptied handed.
Well, lets stop right there.
Do you remember when you would dream of a bike, baseball bat, soccer ball or even a hoola hoop, maybe a netball, basketball or a hockey stick? What about a Frisbee? Most kids today would have no idea how to throw one.

How times have changed and how much fatter our kids, nephews, nieces and grand kids are today.
Are they in fact following their parents bad habits? In most cases, I would say yes.

So this Xmas take a stand. Go out and buy the bike, or a Frisbee, maybe a ball. Something to get the kids moving.

But,there is a catch.
 
You go outside with them and play. Yes, that’s right, instead of the kids sitting in front of a screen all morning, go outside with them and exercise, have fun doing it, enjoy the outdoors and the games you play together.
After the big Xmas lunch, go for a walk as a family. You will feel less bloated and so much better for doing it.

But why isn’t it happening now?
While it’s tempting to make healthy changes in your life then expect to wake the next day with a new body …… don’t. You’re only setting yourself up for disappointment thinking like that. Whether you’re ready to admit it or not, you’ve put time and energy into looking and feeling exactly the way you do today. It has taken you years to get this body and these energy levels, so change won’t happen overnight.
The upside of this is that the longer it takes to lose the weight, the longer it will stay off.
By setting up achievable, enjoyable lifestyle changes, you have a far better chance of sticking to them for the rest of your life.

Wakeupcall Fit Tips - Find a Buddy.



Find a buddy.

Finding it hard to keep to an exercise program? If we know there’s someone waiting for us, it’s harder to talk ourselves out of healthy choices. Find someone with similar fitness goals, or someone who already is doing what you want. Ask them do they mind if you join them.
Try that group activity you’ve always wanted to have a go at – there’s so many out there, from gym to swimming, and you’re sure to find the right one for you with a little searching.
Alternatively, you could make your own group. Find some like-minded souls, and set yourselves up with regular meetings and inspiring goals. Make everyone accountable to their new goals, and help each other when motivation flags.
Have fun with it - fine each other a dollar if you don’t show up! At the end of the month, treat the group with the fines, maybe putting them towards going out for a meal for a job well done.

If you cut carbohydrates drastically and add corresponding amount of protein, your body is forced to turn to an inferior fuel source: protein metabolites called ketones. Because ketones are toxic, your kidneys go into overdrive
to flush them out of your system.
In the process, you drain water from your tissues. Since a litre of water weighs about a kilogram, you can lose a lot of weight very quickly on a high / protein / low- carbohydrate diet. You may drop an additional kilogram or two because you’re eating less.
There’s good news on the scales, perhaps, but bad news for your body. You’ve lost mainly water – along with calcium from your bones and protein from your muscles, but not as much fat as you think.
Your kidneys are under stress, you may become dehydrated, which puts an extra strain on your heart. Few people can or should stay on this kind of diet in the long run. The weight usually returns quickly as the body’s water supply is restored.

• Exercise with a partner
• Vary your exercise activities
• Look for other exercise facilities in your area such as parks, pools and cycle tracks
• Use an exercise bike whilst watching TV
• Try an exercise class
• Diarise your exercise daily

• When jogging or walking or cycling vary your exercise route
• Go for a morning or afternoon walks along the beach
• Take up a team sport
• Buy some new exercise gear
